Jaime Gallagher was nothing like the son his father wanted. The two had spent years at odds, but a chance desire to see his father’s pet project on the mysterious island Sir Ian Gallagher owned brought Jaime into the middle of chaos. Months before, the creatures Sir Ian had bred on the island had broken from their prisons and claimed the island for themselves.

Jaime is imprisoned, kept captive as the new leaders of the island decide his fate. While awaiting their decision, he chooses to live out a fantasy—one where he would give himself to one of the cavemen on the island.

He hadn’t planned for one to become two. Na’ear and Tig’un seem to be a package deal, and Jaime won’t say no to double the loving.

When feelings emerge, and strings threaten to entangle his future, he’s rudderless in a sea of emotions. Will he escape Caveman Isle, or will he stay and face a future with two cavemen?

  Chapter One

Jaime Gallagher scanned the BDSM club from his seat in the VIP section. The throb of the base pulsed like a raw nerve within his bodies as he watched the scantily clad men and women rubbing themselves against one another. The search was on… looking for another in a long series of hookups in the search for Mr. Right.

Mr. Right? Maybe that’s a bit too far…

The something special he kept searching for wasn’t there. Above him, on the second and third levels of the club, was where the real action was. He rose from the packed booth, lifting his glass of high dollar champagne in one hand, knowing full well if his father was going to ream him for his charges, he better damned sure enjoy them. Jaime strode through the throngs of dancers, wedging himself between grinding bodies as he moved.

He was groped a few times. Luckily for the gropers, he didn’t mind that shit.

Too bad none of them had that spark in their eye that made him think they could follow up that first grope with the kind he really liked. After climbing the stairs to the second floor, he perused the play. There were several scenes happening at once, out in the open. Voyeurism was fun, but could only get him so far.

All the rules and the limits and the core of BDSM were there for a reason, and he completely understood and respected them… they kept everyone safe. But there were times when he just wanted some big, muscled man to force him to his knees and take. For there not to be a long conversation about boundaries and limits. No contracts. No safewords.

The few times he’d thought he’d found partners who’d comply with his desires, they’d still held back. He could sense their hesitance as they seemed to watch him intently for cues and often read them wrong.

He paused at a scene where a male sub was being flogged by his master. The leather-clad men were well-built and hot as hell, but it still only kept his interest for a few moments. He walked on, passing a Domme and her female, two subs with their Dom, and then a pup and his owner. None grabbed him.

The next scene was a bit more intriguing. A bit of costume play. A caveman and submissive cavewoman. His eyes widened as he watched them fucking, his thoughts drifting to the island.

  His father’s island.

He hadn’t physically been in the man’s presence in nearly two years. Sir Ian was a lot to handle. Distance helped make civility possible.

The last time he’d seen his father had been at his father’s home in the Caribbean. Jaime drew in a deep breath, remembering the ghastly things he’d seen there. Yet, some of it had been tempting… in a way it shouldn’t have.

“Never imagined you liking a scene like this,” a voice whispered in his ear.

Jaime turned to see Drew Colesworth, one of his university pals. He chuckled at the raised eyebrow the man had. “I was lost in thought.”

Drew smiled, a hint of something in his eyes. He turned to see the caveman pumping deep into the woman. “I’ll never quite understand the allure.” Drew tilted his head some.

  “Never been inside a woman?”

“Almost,” Drew admitted. “I just couldn’t do it. Of course, I told all my friends that I had just to get them off my back and totally ruined the poor girl’s reputation.”

  “Prat,” Jaime said.

“I ended up asking her to be my girlfriend for a few months when I went on vacation with my parents. They agreed to let her go simply because they were glad to think I wasn’t gay. She ended up getting a European holiday out of it and didn’t have to fuck me. I think she ended up getting repaid for her troubles.”

“A month or two with your parents?” Jaime asked, shaking his head. “I think you owe her for that hell, too.”

“As if your parents are much better.”

“Mum is okay. When she’s not drunk,” Jaime said. “She’s off with her new boytoy in Greece or Turkey or somewhere.”

  “Sir Ian?”

“He’s off in the Caribbean, working on his secret project.”

Drew lifted his brows. “Secret project. Oh, do tell.”

Jaime grasped Drew’s elbow and led his friend away from the scene and into a dark corner near the back stairs. “He made me sign an NDA.”

  “A non-disclosure? He’s your father.”

Jaime met Drew’s stare. “He’s a businessman who just so happened to breed with my mother.”

Drew laughed. “I always think my parents are bad until I start hearing about yours.”

Jaime’s gaze shifted back to the two cavepeople, an idea forming. “Those flying lessons you took… ever finish?”

“I’m a certified helicopter pilot,” Drew said with a smile.

“Ever been to the Caribbean?” Jaime asked.

“You do realize we can’t fly a helicopter from here to there,” Drew asked, suspiciously.

“My father has a company jet I can try to secure for the transatlantic flight. He also has a home near Miami that has a small private airport. I can ensure there’s a helicopter there for our use.”

“You want to go see your father?”

“No,” Jaime answered. “I want you to see what he’s got on that island.”

Drew grinned, his white teeth flashing in the dark. “Ready whenever you are.”

  * * * *

Carter strolled along the white sand beaches of the island, his mate at his side. The sun slowly set in the distance. Ma’tic clenched his hand tighter. Carter cast a glance over at the man, his stunning partner. Everything about Ma’tic was gorgeous. His strong, sinewy body looked almost orange in the falling sun’s rays.

“The baby comes soon,” Ma’tic murmured before his stare turned to Carter’s rounded stomach. “We have few nights like this left.”

Carter listened to the waves crash
ing over the shore, knowing an adventure unlike anything they’d ever known was before them. Fear crept into him, the thought of giving birth weighed heavily on his shoulders. What if he didn’t survive it?

“You’ll be okay,” Ma’tic said, as if he could read Carter’s mind. “The doctors are skilled.”

  “But what if I’m not?”

Ma’tic came to a stop, forcing Carter to stop as well. “You’ll be okay,” he repeated. It almost sounded like a mantra the man had been whispering in his mind over and over again. The idaltu man drew him closer. “I won’t lose you.”

Carter winced slightly, the soreness in his pregnant body making him constantly uncomfortable. Even as worried as he was about giving birth, he was very ready to have this babe out of him. “I trust Aden, but I’m not quite so sure about the others.”

Aden was the medic who’d helped them during the overthrow of the island. The other medical staff who’d survived were more prisoner than residents now. Aden would be there during the birth, to assist, but he had no experience in Caesarian section. They needed the skills of the medical staff if Carter and the babe were to survive.

Ma’tic turned Carter to face the sun and the water, sidling up closer behind him. Two big arms wrapped around Carter’s upper body and squeezed his chest.

He let out a grunt of pain.

Ma’tic loosened his hold. “What’s wrong?”

“I ache all over,” Carter said. “Not an inch of me isn’t aching at this point.”

“Should we go find Aden?” Ma’tic asked, worry in his voice.

“No,” Carter said, reaching up to hold Ma’tic’s comforting arms in place. “I just want to stay here a while with you.”

Ma’tic nuzzled against his ear, one hand slipping down to run over Carter’s belly. “I love you, Caw-ter.”

Carter chuckled. The name had been the first Ma’tic had used for him—before the caveman had learned so much in so little a time. “And I love you.”

He turned his head to kiss his mate’s lips. The soft feel of his lover’s lips made him tingle within. A flutter sounded over the waves, and grew. It took him a moment to realize the sound wasn’t right. Ma’tic pulled from his lips and looked into the air.

“Someone comes,” he said before lifting a hand toward the horizon.

A helicopter hovered over the water, directly before the setting sun. The black outline of the craft had an ominous feel.

“Come,” Ma’tic said. “We must go.”

Ma’tic had his hand and was pulling him back into the trees that lined the shore. They raced toward the old mansion, but after a few meters, he struggled. Out of breath, he pulled his hand from Ma’tic’s and stopped to draw in air.

His mate turned and lifted him into the air, as if he weighed nothing. Ma’tic kept running through the trees until they came to the manicured lawn of the mansion. He crossed the open space quickly, until they came close to the helipad behind the house.

Ma’tic’s friend Ben’ab and two other from their tribe—Tig’un and Na’ear—were racing down the back steps of the mansion, large spears in their hands. They converged at the base, Ma’tic lowering Carter to his feet.

“Go inside,” Ma’tic growled before turning to his tribe mates.

“No,” Carter cried. “We need to be careful.”

Ben’ab lifted his spear. “Careful? Kill.”

“No!” Carter screamed as the sound of the helicopter neared. “No kill.”

The other cavemen growled at him, glaring. Their language skills were nowhere as good as Ma’tic’s, but were getting better each day. But not good enough to have a logical conversation with them. Carter turned to Ma’tic.

“We don’t know who they are or why they’re here. We need to capture them—as safely as possible—and question them,” Carter said.

Ma’tic seemed to understand. He turned to the others and spoke in their language. They didn’t look happy, but seemed to relax. Tig’un and Na’ear were always quiet. Neither had said more than five words in front of Carter in the months he’d been there.

“Hide,” Ma’tic said to Carter as he pushed them all behind a bush. Seconds later, the helicopter came into view behind the grand mansion.

Carter stood behind the two cavemen as they watched the craft land, their muscled bodies poised and ready to attack.

As soon as the helicopter landed and the engine died, two young men emerged under the still swirling rotors. They ducked as they walked closer, until they’d cleared the craft and rose to their full height.

“Let’s find my father and get started on our adventure,” one of the men said as they approached.

The other laughed as the pair climbed the stairs. “I wish you’d fill me in a little.”

Before they could finish their conversation, Na’ear and Tig’un raced from their spot, their spears jutting out before them. Ma’tic followed the pair of warriors out, his stance wide while Ben’ab circled around the back of the men.

  “Kneel,” Ma’tic spat.

“What’s this?” one of the men said. “Your father has some sense of humor.” The man paused looking at all of the cavemen. “Or has your father built some erotic, perverted sex resort? Oh, this is fabulous.”

Carter stepped out of hiding. “I’m afraid that’s far from the truth.”

Both men stared at him a moment before their eyes grew wide when they glanced at his full, pregnant stomach.

“What the hell is this, Jaime?”

Carter froze a moment as a realization came over him. “Jaime Gallagher?” Carter asked, suddenly remembering Sir Ian had some young brat for a son who spent most of his time partying and flying around the world.

“One in the same,” the man answered. “Where’s my father?”

Carter breathed out a sigh. “I regret to inform you he is no longer with us.”

Jaime’s stare widened. A bevy of emotions crossed his face as that truth washed over him. “And I wasn’t notified?” He took a step forward, but Na’ear grabbed him and put him in a tight hold. “What’s the meaning of this?” Jaime asked Carter.

“Your father’s experiment went awry. The cavemen now run the island your father imprisoned them on,” Carter said.

“Cavemen?” the other man said, looking around. “What the hell have you gotten me into, Jaime?” He took a step back before spinning and making a mad dash for the helicopter. Tig’un had him face down on the ground by the time he’d reached the bottom.

Jaime’s face fell as he watched Drew dragged back up the stairs. “What are you going to do with us?”

  “You’ll be our… guests,” Ma’tic answered.

Both men began to curse at them as Na’ear and Tig’un dragged them into the mansion. Halfway to the house, those curses turned to pleading. All of it was ignored by the cavemen.

Ma’tic turned toward Carter, sighing. “You should question them. My English… is not good enough.”

“Your English is fine,” Carter said, but he agreed that the two men could potentially twist things with the slight language barrier. “But you’re probably right. I want you ther—”

Carter screamed in pain, leaning over.

Ma’tic was at his side in seconds, lifting him into strong arms. He cried something in his native language to Ben’ab before carrying Carter through the mansion. Ma’tic raced Carter along, even after the pain subsided. When they arrived at the hospital wing, another pain hit. He screamed in pain.

Aden rushed in seconds later, jumping into action. “Get him on the exam table.”

Ma’tic lowered Carter down, but stayed close, gripping one hand.

Aden examined him a moment before lifting his gaze. “I know the Caesarian wasn’t scheduled until next week, but we might have to go in early.”

“Hurry,” Carter screamed as another pain hit.

Aden looked to Ma’tic. “I need you to free one of the doctors.”

Ma’tic left the room in a panic, just as the pain ebbed. Aden remain
ed, pulling Carter’s shoes and clothing off. Once Carter was nude, Aden draped a sheet over his body.

“Can you… give me anything… for the pain?”

Aden shook his head. “Wait for the doctor.”

Ma’tic sped back into the room, dragging one of the doctors along with him. They stopped beside the bed, where Ma’tic turned the man to face him.

“If he dies,” Ma’tic growled. “You die.”

The doctor swallowed, wide-eyed. He nodded his understanding. “I can’t do it alone.”

  “You have Aden,” Ma’tic answered.

  “We need more help.”

  “Two is fine,” Ma’tic said.

The doctor hedged slightly before turning to Aden. “Do you have an OR prepared?”

“Not yet,” Aden said. “I thought he had more time.”

“You should’ve let us look at him,” the man spat.

“We don’t have time to argue that point,” Aden screamed, just as Carter let out another howl of pain.

“Just get this thing out of me!” Carter cried when the pain faded some.

He was on a gurney seconds later, speeding toward the OR, he assumed. Once they arrived at a set of swinging doors, the doctor pulled on a surgical gown and tossed Ma’tic another. “Go—”

  “I will stay!” Ma’tic cried.

“Go and wash your hands. Thoroughly and put that gown on—like the one I have on. We can’t risk an infection,” the doctor said.

Ma’tic glared a moment, but left.

After he was wheeled into a pale-green tiled room, a bright light came on above him. He barely paid attention to the sounds of the men preparing. He heard water flowing and the sound of metal on metal. Fear pumped through his veins as he lay there alone.

Thankfully, Ma’tic was soon at his side. The man lowered his head and placed a kiss on Carter’s forehead. “I love you, Carter.”
